the Walkthrough
With
the good mods published last month, a few people have been
asking about Polar Payne again, and how to finish it. I
naively thought at the time that most people would pick
up on the Predator reference with
the Eskimo boss blowing up at the end, but sadly not.
Although
it's hardly rocket science, this walkthrough will briefly
the main areas that people get stuck at, in a FAQ style.
Obviously there are spoilers, so if you don't want to know,
then you shouldn't be here.
Q.
At the start an eskimo runs off and sets off
an alarm. Do I have to try again?
A.
No. Whether you kill the eskimo or not, the camera/alarm
will go off, and the fort doors will lock.
Q.
How do I get inside the fort?
A.
Go exploring towards the left side of the map for a bit,
and eventually an exclamation point (!) will appear over
Dinky's head. Walk towards the water/islands bit, and you'll
see a small island with a Lever on it. Jump to the island
and pull the lever with the Use key. The fort doors will
open. Lame I know, but I was desperately looking for a way
to lengthen the mod. ;0
Q.
I killed the boss, and he starts laughing. If
I shoot him, or try to run away I get blown up. Is that
it?
A.
No, wait there's more! You'll see the camera point towards
the start of the level, up the hill. That's where you're
supposed to go. Run all the way back up the hill, to where
you started the level. You need to be quick, however. The
end cutscene will cut in if you reach cover before the bomb
goes off.
Q.
What's up with the cutscene with Max Payne?
A.
Erm..some things are best left unanswered. ;)
However,
after the cutscene, he teleports to one of the hills looking
down over the fort.
